Chambers is delighted to announce that Janeen Achtar has accepted an invitation to join Chambers as a Commercial Arbitrator and Mediator. Janeen has over 15 years of experience in teaching law and teaching Commercial Mediation over the last 5 years.

Janeen’s approach to mediation is mainly facilitative, because she believes in encouraging the parties to explore their interests and not become entrenched in positions. As an when necessary, Janeen also leads an evaluative mediation.
Janeen is relaxed and approachable and possesses excellent knowledge of mediation theories and techniques. She is accordingly highly adaptable used to taking charge of the room, while winning the trust and confidence of participants.
Janeen’s academic background and training in Psychology, enables her to quickly identify and manage barriers and emotions which can present themselves in varying degrees in all mediations. Janeen intuitively offers alternative perspectives and avenues to the participants which focus on the wider interest of the parties and not just the present dispute.
Janeen is RSPP accredited and a registered mediator with the Civil Mediation Council. She is also a member of the Professional Mediators Association.

Janeen is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) (Arbitration Pathway) and is completing doctoral research in mediation and justice. In addition to holding a PGDip in International Dispute Resolution, and a certificate in mediation theory, Janeen also read for the Llm in International Law and International Relations. She is accordingly the right choice for international commercial arbitration.
